What makes Brodo different than other broths?

In a word: flavor. Our founder, Marco Canora (James Beard Award, Best Chef in New York), is a world-class chef who insists on doing things the right way. We use only top-quality ingredients – whole fresh-cut organic vegetables, organic poultry, 100% grass-fed animals, and the aromatic spices. We then slow-simmer these ingredients with an almost equal amount of water (1:1 ratio) for up to 24 hours, depending on the broth (chicken takes less time). Other broth makers may cook for less time; some brew for even longer. We feel our process is the right amount of time to ensure maximum nutrient density – and maximum flavor – in every cup.

Would you serve this to your family with pride?

This is actually a question we frequently ask ourselves – as well as our suppliers, partners, and every employee that comes into contact with our products. Starting with Chef Marco, and up and down the line, the answer is a resounding YES! We can’t wait for these broths to play a central role in our homes and in yours.

Why are you switching out of frozen bone broth?

As many of you know (the hard way) our frozen containers were vulnerable to cracking and leaking. The frozen supply chain is also very taxing on the environment.

This new package allows us to maintain the same product quality in a more consumer and planet friendly format.

Best of all, our new line of broth uses the same recipes, they’re still made from scratch, still have no preservatives, and offer more consistent quality!

Do you use any preservatives?

No. Definitely not.

Will this bone broth taste the same as the previous, frozen broth?

The short answer is yes! The only thing that’s new is the packaging. We’re still using the same recipes and making our bone broth from scratch, the traditional way, without any concentrates, powders, or preservatives.

Can your packaging be microwaved (spoiler alert… no!)

No. Our packaging contains aluminum and therefore should not be microwaved. To heat your broth in a microwave, we recommend starting with 60-90 seconds in a microwave safe mug or container until you find your perfect temp.

How long will the broth keep in my pantry?

Until opened, your broth will last for up to one year at room temperature.  After opening, your broth can be stored in the refrigerator for up to five days.

What sizes and quantities will you be offering?

We will be keeping the 1-cup (8.3 oz.) size. Sometime in June we will also be adding a resealable 3-cup (25 oz.) size that’s perfect for larger mugs and cooking. Many of you requested the larger size and we listened!

I am an existing subscriber. How will this affect my order?

We went through and tried to get your new subscription as close as to your previous one as possible. But feel free to log in to the customer portal and make any adjustments! As always, your subscription can be paused, canceled, or edited (especially since you may want to try the new flavors & sizes).

How do I make updates to my subscription?

Log in to the customer portal (brodo.com/dashboard) to skip orders, change your order frequency, switch broths, or temporarily pause your subscription.

Have you considered other packaging options such as glass jars?

Yes! We are constantly evaluating ways to minimize our footprint. The weight and bulky volume of glass jars drives very high transportation emissions. The melting and reshaping process associated with recycling glass is very energy intensive. Glass production also requires sand, which is an increasingly finite resource. So while we love glass as a refillable package, it’s not a good choice for Brodo.

When will the beef broth be back in stock?

We will reintroduce our 100% Grass Fed Beef broth when we launch the 3-Cup (25oz) package, hopefully sometime in June.

Do you offer a vegan/vegetarian broth?

We are currently working to bring back our Vegan Seaweed & Mushroom Broth. We don’t have an accurate ETA yet, however we hope to have it back by the end of the year. There are some studies that show shiitake (and types of kelp) can promote collagen but the Vegan Seaweed & Mushroom Broth does not contain gelatin. However, it is still very nourishing, hydrating, and delicious!

How do I use bone broth?

Our broth is wonderful when sipped straight from a favorite mug and it’s also great for cooking soups, risottos, stews, and more. Check out our blog for recipe inspiration!

Do you ship nationwide?

We ship to all the lower 48 states.

How long does shipping take?

Orders placed by 1pm EST Monday-Thursday are packed and shipped on the same day! If you place your order after the 1pm cutoff, your order will ship the following business day. Once shipped, delivery times vary – East Coast packages arrive in 1-2 days and West Coast packages (currently) take 3-5 business days. For any additional questions on our shipping schedule, please reach out to [email protected].

Will the new packages cost the same?

We recently introduced a price increase, but this is mainly due to the rising costs of high quality ingredients and labor. As always, subscribers will receive the best pricing. We’ll also be introducing further incentives to order larger quantities later this year.

Where can I find a list of ingredients and nutritional information?

Nutrition info for each broth is available on its product info page.

Is your broth tested for lead?

Our bone broths are regularly tested for lead and reports have shown that levels are under a detectable amount.

How much sodium is in your broth?

Our sodium levels vary slightly, 350 milligrams per 8oz serving. We season to taste and only use mineral-rich sea salt.

Does the broth arrive frozen?

We used to sell only frozen bone broth, but we have recently switched to bone broth that requires no freezing or refrigeration until it’s opened.

How do I reheat it?

From the pantry or fridge, you can either heat your bone broth on the stove, in the microwave, or add it to your favorite dish.

Does your broth contain apple cider vinegar?

No. Other broth makers may use apple cider vinegar as a shortcut to extract nutrients from the bones. Our chef and founder Marco Canora thinks this unnecessary. Using the right kinds of bones and cooking for the right amount of time is a more effective way to make a truly nutrient-dense broth.

Why is it called Brodo?

Simple: Brodo is the italian word for “broth.” Historically, Italians have made broth a bit differently from their French counterparts, simmering both meat and bone, not just bones. Our chef and founder, Marco Canora, prefers the Italian method. We specifically use drumsticks, oxtails and other meaty cuts to make our broth more delicious and more nutrient dense.

What’s your return policy?

Your enjoyment of Brodo is hugely important to us. If you’re not satisfied for any reason, please contact us directly and we’ll do our best to make it right.

Is your bone broth organic?

Our chicken & turkey are certified organic, raised on pasture, and fed a vegetarian diet free of GMOs, antibiotics, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides. Our beef is 100% grass-fed and finished, raised on pasture, and free of antibiotics and hormones. All are sourced from free-range providers.

Where do your bones come from?

We get all of our bones from cooperatives and family farms.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?
