Bone Broth Fast Mimicking Programs

Sometimes your body just needs a break.

Traditional fasts can be difficult to maintain, and pretty hard to stomach (…literally and figuratively). Our founder, Chef Marco Canora, teamed up with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Linn Steward, to create four broth fast-mimicking programs that will help you to reset your system without eliminating food entirely.

These programs range from entry-level (with broth and light additives) to broth only. Each contains a suggested meal for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. If you’ve never attempted fasting before, you should consult with your doctor before trying these programs.

First thing’s first…

To complete these fast-mimicking programs, you’ll need to know how to craft a simple and delicious Brodo broth beverage. You can find our four most popular beverage recipes as pre-made pouches in the frozen aisle at your local Whole Foods Market. Or, you can quickly whip up your own version of our blended drinks right in your home.

Here are the recipes for our five most popular broth beverages. Each recipe makes one 10-oz. beverage.

DEEPLY ROOTED

You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger root
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • lemon wedge, squeezed
  • pat of butter*
  • 10oz Brodo broth of your choice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients with hot broth
  2. Blend with a buzzer or immersion blender until frothy
  3. Pour into a mug with a squeeze of lemon and enjoy!
  4. (Optional) Garnish with a sprinkle of turmeric and freshly ground black pepper

*For added protein, swap the butter for one egg yolk.

TOM YUM

You’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp coconut milk
  • 1/2 lime, squeezed
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder
  • hot sauce to taste
  • 10oz Brodo broth of your choice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients with hot broth
  2. Blend with a buzzer or immersion blender until frothy
  3. Pour into a mug and enjoy!
  4. (Optional) Garnish with a sprinkle of curry powder and lime wedge

SPICY NONNA

You’ll need:

  • 1 head of garlic, roasted
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 calabrian chilis, seeds removed
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 10oz Brodo broth of your choice

Instructions

  1. To roast the garlic, cut off the top 1/4 inch to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes. **Don’t have time to roast garlic or find calabrian chilis? Grate fresh garlic with your favorite hot sauce and combine with hot broth.
  2. Pulverize chilis, roasted garlic, salt, and olive oil to a paste using a mortar & pestle
  3. Combine 1 spoonful of the garlic chili paste with hot broth and blend with a buzzer or immersion blender until frothy*
  4. Pour into a mug with a drizzle of chili oil and enjoy!

*Use leftover garlic chili paste for a week’s worth of Spicy Nonna!

TUSCAN SUN

You’ll need:

  • 1 garlic clove, sliced
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • pinch of sea salt
  • zest of one lemon, grated
  • 1 tsp olive oil*
  • 10oz Brodo broth of your choice

Instructions

  1. Pulverize garlic, rosemary, salt, olive oil, and lemon zest to a paste using a mortar & pestle (it’ll take some elbow grease!)
  2. Combine paste with hot broth and blend with a buzzer or immersion blender until frothy
  3. Pour into a mug with a squeeze of lemon and enjoy!

*For added healthy fat, add 1 extra tsp of olive oil.

SUNDAY ROAST

You’ll Need:

  • 1 head of garlic, roasted*
  •  1 tsp olive oil
  • 2oz of Brodo Seaweed Mushroom broth
  •  8oz Brodo broth of your choice

Instructions

  1.  To roast the garlic, cut off the top 1/4 inch to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before squeezing the garlic head to extract the soft roasted garlic *Don’t have time to roast garlic? Grate fresh garlic and combine with hot broth for a stronger garlic flavor, or use a store bought garlic paste. *Remaining garlic paste can be reserved for other recipes!
  2. Combine 1 spoonful of the garlic paste with the 2oz of Seaweed Mushroom broth and your choice of another hot Brodo broth.
  3. Blend with an immersion blender until frothy.
  4.  Pour into a mug and enjoy!

*This recipe can also be made with all Vegan broth if you prefer, use 10oz of our Vegan Seaweed & Mushroom broth to do so.
